    FAQ
    Do i need planning permission?
    Chevron arrow down
In most cases, planning permission isn’t required if the system is mounted to a building within permitted development. Listed buildings, conservation areas, or certain heritage sites may require permission. Larger ground-mounted systems usually need planning permission. More info: Planning Portal
How long will the installation take?
    Chevron arrow down
Installation times vary based on system size, site conditions, and complexity. Smaller residential installs can be done in a few days, while larger or complex systems may take longer. Scaffolding, if needed, is typically set up shortly before installation and removed a few days afterward once testing is complete.
    Do you use sub-contractors?
    Chevron arrow down
Heva Energy has a trusted network of authorised partners who carry out the physical installation under our guidance and management. All partners are fully trained, certified, and insured.
How long is the system warranted?
    Chevron arrow down
Hardware warranties are provided by the respective manufacturers. Heva Energy offers a 5-year workmanship warranty for installation. Some manufacturers offer extended warranty options. Any costs outside of warranty will be detailed in advance.
How long will the system take to pay for itself?
    Chevron arrow down
This depends on your energy use, local conditions, and electricity prices, which can change over time. Rising energy costs and the growth of electric vehicles and heat pumps are making solar and storage increasingly worthwhile. Many systems pay for themselves faster as energy prices rise.
Will the system work during a power cut?
    Chevron arrow down
All PV systems must disconnect from the grid during an outage. To supply power during a grid outage, the system must be configured to operate in isolation (island mode), which requires extra hardware and setup. Please ask us if you’re interested in off-grid options.
How does the system connect to the internet?
    Chevron arrow down
Your system needs a constant internet connection for online monitoring and firmware updates. Wi-Fi is possible if your inverter has a stable signal, but Heva Energy recommends a wired Ethernet connection where possible. Note: some warranties depend on the system staying connected.
How long will the system last?
    Chevron arrow down
Systems typically have an operational life of 25+ years. Some parts, like inverters, may need replacing during this period. Batteries usually last 10–15 years. We recommend periodic inspections and solar array cleaning (every 3–5 years). Heva Energy systems are maintained during the lease of the system.
